Facilitating Students’ Engagement with Informational Text

Close reading involves teacher guidance as we get students to delve deeper into the meaning of text.  Then what?  Using Common Core standards as a guideline, this presentation will offer ideas that teachers can use in classrooms to facilitate students’ exploration of informational texts–independently of the teacher.

I will introduce the most user friendly, interactive, and effective apps to you while you enjoy a night out with fellow teachers! These apps can be used to develop 21st century skills while working on reading fluency, comprehension, word work and writing! Apps include: Seesaw; ChatterPix; PicCollage; Tellagami; BuddyPoke; Puppet Pals HD Director’s Pass; and Videolicious.
